A Therapist’s Honest Reviews
I’ve been doing on-line therapy for several years now, but when I was first starting out I didn’t know the difference between Talkway or Headspace or Betterhealth or Google Time.
But now I do, and I would be happy to share what I’ve learned about these three platforms with you, so that you can make an informed decision (rather than a hopeful guess--which is what I did) about which platform is right for you.

Betterhelp Review
Strengths:
1). Intuitive, user-friendly platform.
2). Simple policies and protocols.
3). Friendly, responsive, administrative support.
4). Accept or reject clients based on your schedule/goodness of fit.
5). Opportunities to teach classes or lead groups.
5). Benefits: Free CEUs, referral bonus, health benefit stipend (if you qualify), and license fee reimbursement (if you apply for a license in a high-demand state), and free counseling for yourself on Betterhelp.
Opportunities for growth:
1). Low pay.
2). Very little oversight.
3). Forums are not always a “safe” place.
4). Wait list to lead classes or groups.
I would recommend Betterhelp for:
Therapists who want to make some extra money without a lot of administrative burden or technology stress, and who are not proficient in marketing or generating client leads. The platform is simple, easy, and client matching makes finding your ideal client a breeze.
Like I said, it’s hard to make a living here, but I could definitely see myself loving the ease and flexibility of Betterhelp when I’m looking toward retirement vs. now, when I’m supporting a family of five.
Betterhelp is, by far, my favorite platform to work for. I hope you love it too!

Talkspace Review
Strengths:
1). Decent pay.
2). Thorough on-boarding & safety protocols.
3). Free credentialing and client matching.
4). AI generated progress notes for messaging sessions.
5). Free CEUs & clinical support.
Opportunities for growth:
1). Very complex client plans, compensation formulas, and treatment plans.
2). Response times are abysmal.
3). Can’t decline clients who are matched to you.
4). Matched clients don’t always engage.
I would recommend Talkspace for:
Therapists who want to make a decent living in private practice without the stress of overhead costs or marketing concerns. The platform can be confusing, (but there are resources to help you through everything), and the hourly pay is not amazing, but with monthly bonuses you can do alright. Of course you could potentially make a lot more in your own private practice, but the pros of not having to generate my own clients + manage all the intake forms and paperwork + not having to concern myself with billing + not having to deal with records requests, + virtually no overhead costs, etc. make Talkspace a great option for me.
I hope you think so too!

Headway Review
Strengths:
1). Free credentialing, Electronic Health Record, scheduling, and billing services.
2). Friendly, responsive, administrative support.
4). Free CEUs & professional growth resources.
Opportunities for growth:
1). Not credentialed with many insurance panels.
2). Have to attain your own HIPPAA compliant meeting room as well as your own private phone line for your private practice.
3). Maintain your own EHR?
4). Marketing!
I would recommend Headway for:
Therapists who have marketing knowledge and skills, and who can generate their own client leads. This is a great platform to “try out” to see if private practice is right for you, since Headway offers free access to the platform, does all the credentialing for you, and provides personal and educational support in building your clientele and growing your business. If you can handle the marketing aspect of private practice, your earning potential will be much higher through Headway vs. other on-line platforms, however, the success or failure of your ability to generate clients is completely up to you.
